BT1 starts quite difficult (especially if you don't borrow that Fire Horn from a fellow member of the Adventurer Guild), then is quite easy for most of the game, before the last 2-3 levels become very difficult. The BT games generally have a more uneven difficulty. Wizardry 1 is still an excellent game, while BT1 has not aged very well. BT is buggier, much prettier, and has lots more combat.
